Hello, and welcome to the week 8 announcements video for CC 410 in spring 2026. So, this week you should have been wrapping up the test doubles project. You should have met with me for your second final project milestone. And then also, you should have wrapped up the first concept quiz. For those of you that have completed the concept quiz, I just got done grading those and have posted those grades. If you haven’t gotten that done yet, please make sure you get that done as soon as you can so that I can get that graded. Generally, I’ve been really impressed so far, so I hope to see everybody keep up the good work with all that content.

So this week, we’re going to shift gears a little bit. We’re going to start working on a graphical user interface. So this week, we’re going to go through the basics of building a user interface in Python, and then you’re going to do the sixth restaurant milestone where you’ll actually implement a user interface in your milestone. So that one, you’re going to create the overall GUI structure. I’m going to kind of show you one example for the user interface, and I’ll give you some helpful hints, but this is one of the milestones where you can definitely get creative as far as the design and layout of your user interface. So if you want to use some tools to get a cooler-looking interface at this point, now is the time to do that. You’re more than welcome to. But just make sure you get a working user interface that you can turn in by the end of spring break so that we can build on top of that.

One thing I will remind you in your Codio configuration, make sure you update the viewer port to 3050. There’s an earlier announcement in the announcements in Canvas that kind of describes this in detail, but basically you just need to find the .codio file in your Codio project and change the port to 3050 so that it will open up correctly in Codio. If you’re not sure how to fix that, let me know and I’m happy to show you how to do that. So looking ahead after this milestone, we’ve got some time to do some event-driven programming and bring in some external libraries and build a release version of our project. And then after that, once we get into April, we’ll start working on web APIs and give you a little bit more time to work toward the final project.

So it’s week eight. We’re finally reaching the halfway mark of the semester. Hopefully things are going well as always. If you have any questions, let me know. Otherwise, enjoy your spring break next week and I will see you again in two weeks.
