Hello, and welcome to the week 10 announcements video for CC 410 in spring 2026. I’m all dressed up to head to the state FBLA conference. I’m helping judge this week, so I’ll be out of the office for a couple of days, but I figured I’d get my recording done before I leave. So this week, you’ve got an example on external libraries, and then you’re going to do a restaurant milestone where you’re going to integrate an external library into your restaurant. And then, of course, we have another one of those start, stop, continue surveys. Those are completely optional, but it’s just a chance for you to tell me anything that you want me to make sure I start doing, stop doing, or continue doing. I do read all of those and I try and do my best to put anything together into practice that comes out of that. So feel free to send me your honest comments and feedback on the class in that survey.

So for Milestone 8, we’re going to be working on the sidebar for the orders, keeping track of everything in the orders. We’re going to add buttons to our panel for the combos so that we can add combos to our orders as well. And we’re going to start working on some basic unit testing around different things in the UI. Some of this will be introducing the factory method pattern, which is a really interesting pattern to use for generating these user interface panels. So hopefully this milestone works out really well. It’s a little bit more complex, but hopefully things go well as you go through that.

So looking ahead after this, then we’ll talk about building releases and integrating a checkout library, and then we’ll switch over and start doing some web UI stuff toward the end of the class. That also is meant to give you more time to work on the final project.

So hopefully things are going well this semester. You’re getting ready to build up a restaurant interface so you can finally start taking someone’s order and keeping track of it into your UI. As always, if you have any questions, let me know. Otherwise, best of luck and I will see you again next week.
