Hello and welcome to the week 15 announcements video for CC 410 in spring 2026. So this week you should be wrapping up the last couple of modules in this course. We have a module on validation and serialization in the restaurant project. And then really the big thing you should be working on is your final project, which is going to be due at the end of next week. So really for the rest of the semester, after you get those things turned in, there is one textbook extras quiz that’s at the end of the semester. And then everything else is due by the end of finals week, which is Friday on May the 15th.
So for your release project, for the final project, you need to create a release tag on GitHub, just like you do with every other project. Make sure you read the final requirements page and try and cover most of those requirements in your project. Your project should have good documentation in the code, and I highly recommend including some sort of README or user documentation for how to run it as well. And then the other big thing you’ll turn in is your presentation. So the presentation itself should be 15 to 20 minutes long. I expect most students will want to pre-record a video and then just submit that video online. If you do want to present it live, you sure can. Unfortunately, because of my schedule doing all the computer science final project, the only time I’m really available is Monday of Finals Week. I’ve got lots of openings that day. The rest of finals week, I’m fully booked during the day. However, you can shoot me an email. I may be able to find a time either in the early morning or in the evenings after five o’clock to do some presentations later that week, but I really wouldn’t count on it. So for most of you, if you’re not ready to present by Monday, you should plan on pre-recording a video and submitting that video by the end of finals week.
So here’s a suggested outline for your presentation. Give a quick introduction of your project. Talk about the background, why you chose that project, why you’re interested in it. Talk me through your implementation, how you designed it, what code you used, how you built either something different or how you used code for the restaurant project in your own project. Evaluate how well you did. Tell me how well your project met your goals and how well you think you did based on how you thought it would come out at the beginning of the project. Talk about some future work if you were to keep working on the project. And then give me a demo of the project working. Make sure you run it, share your screen, show me that your project actually works.
Last big thing we need to cover in this class is TEVALs or teaching evaluations. Those will be available next week. You’ll get an email probably late this week, early next week with a link to fill out the TEVAL online. Remember, the TEVALs or K-State are completely anonymous and they’re delayed. I don’t get to see any of your responses until after I submit final grades. I encourage you to take the time to fill out these TEVALs. All feedback is welcome and encouraged. This class has constantly changed over the years as I get feedback from students about what works, what doesn’t work. So I take all of your feedback into consideration, both good and bad. So please take the time, fill out the TEVAL with your honest opinions and let me know how I can make this course better and how you think things went. That’s always very valuable to me. So I welcome your feedback.
So we’re at the checkered flag. We’re almost at the end of the semester. Hopefully things are going well. This will be the last announcements video you’ll see from me this semester. So unless you schedule a time to chat with me about your final project, it’s probably the last time you’ll see me on video. So best of luck as you wrap up the semester. I’ve been really impressed with everybody’s hard work throughout the semester and I think it’s going great. So I look forward to seeing all your final projects and hopefully I’ll see some of you again in a future class. Best of luck.
