Hello and welcome to the week 12 announcements video for CC 410 in spring 2026. So this week we’re shifting gears a little bit to move from graphical user interfaces to websites. And so this week we’re going to introduce the basics of adding a website framework to your application. We’re going to build a basic data-driven website with some templates. And starting this week, we’re going to have smaller restaurant milestones to give you more time to start working on your final project. Don’t forget we’re on week 12 of 16, so you got about four weeks to work on your final project. So now is the time to really sit down and start working on that code. If you don’t know where to start, start with the Hello Real World project to get your framework built up and then basically go through the same process we did with the restaurants. Get your data classes figured out, get your inheritance figured out, work on unit tests, and then move ahead from there.

So like I said, for Milestone 10, we’re going to be installing a web framework in our project. We’re going to use the Flask web framework, and we’re also going to use an extension to Flask called Flask Classful that I think makes it a little bit easier to work with, especially if you have experience with web frameworks like Node or Express or .NET Core, things like that. This fits really well with that. So we’re going to do some routers, controllers, templates, and really build a data-driven menu of this website. We’re not going to do the point-of-sale system in the website. We’re mainly just going to be focused on editing and customizing our menu items with this, but it’s a good example for some basic website interface. So after this, we’ll have some more milestones on the website for doing form data, filtering, serialization.

Like I said, this is really meant to be smaller milestones for the restaurant project to give you more time for the final project. And make sure you start looking ahead at the modules. There is one last restaurant milestone that is due on vinyls week along with your final project. So everything kind of comes due at that same time at the end of the semester.

So we are headed to the World Wide Web. I hope everything’s going really well for you so far this semester. Don’t forget here in a couple weeks, we’ll have our last final project check-in before the end of the semester. So if you’ve got any questions or concerns, now’s the time to reach out for that. And here in a bit, I’ll be posting some more information about how to finalize your final project in this class. But best of luck. It’s Monday on a Wednesday for me because I was out of town at a recruiting event on Monday. So I’m a little bit late getting this out. But hopefully things are going well. And I will see you again next week.
